Period farce. Having achieved stardom on stage, Julia has an affair with a younger man in order to stave off boredom. |
| Review: |
Set in London's theatreland, featuring good frocks, great scenery and lots of glitzy interiors. Moderately good period detail - but did 1938 theatre producers really have rowing machines in their offices? In London? Ah well, perhaps they did. Extra points for conjuring up a seductive bohemian world populated by actors and their hangers on, and for the happy ending but one point lost for Annette Bening making Julia too nice. |
