Review:
I adore the script (Tom Stoppard), the story (John le Carré), the performances, the whole thing.  It's exciting and scary right until the last frame but absolutely gore-free, which makes it a rare beast in the cinematic world.  In lesser hands one can imagine car chases and ketchup all over the place.  Russia has never looked so lovely.  Extra points for the super-sloppy happy ending.  Okay, there are no musical numbers, no pink, bad frocks, and no cute fluffy ickle doggies, but... here's a film that doesn't need any of that - wow.
