I first got into journalism because I was so incensed by what I saw as the disinformation published by what was then MAFF about rabies.

      I can't think that my efforts made any difference whatsoever, and certainly don't lay claim to any credit for the introduction of pet passports.  I certainly discovered a lot about animal diseases though, and made loads of contacts and moved on to write about other animal-related issues.
